eNVH Services: Vibroacoustic Optimization of Electric Motors & Gear Transmissions

Optimize design using numerical simulation to reduce noise & vibration and improve mechanical reliability

Faced with the acceleration of the energy transition and growing demands for reduced emissions, Vibratec has been a trusted partner for more than 15 years in managing the acoustic and vibratory challenges of electrified drivetrains.

We are involved from the earliest design phases to secure your technical choices, reduce NVH risks and guarantee a robust, high-performance design from the very first iteration.

Our expertise applies to all mobility and industry sectors

Automotive

In the automotive sector, electric powertrains (E-PWT) emit electrical whistling noises and gearbox whines, which can greatly alter comfort perception. It is therefore essential to limit these noise sources by controlling airborne and structure-borne transfers. In addition, the absence of masking noise from combustion engines makes auxiliary equipment noise (pumps, actuators, etc.) more perceptible and thus more critical.

Aeronautics

More recently, the aerospace sector has expressed a need to better understand the overall dynamic behavior of hybrid transmissions. For this sector, the main concern is  mechanical reliability rather than acoustics (dynamic behavior of shaft lines under electromagnetic and gear meshing excitations).

Rail, Marine and Soft mobility

Mobility in the broadest sense: whether for rail traction (interior and exterior noise, particularly during acceleration and braking), maritime transport or soft mobility (e-bikes), acoustic issues are omnipresent.

Industrial equipment

In all industrial sectors, noise and vibration are differentiating factors. They must be controlled while balancing other constraints such as technical performance (efficiency, weight, cost…) and increasingly shorter development timelines.

VibraVolt and VibraGear, developed with our research partners.

Two specially developed software tools

Developed by Vibratec, VibraVolt is a software tool designed to simulate and optimize the acoustic behavior of electrical machines. It combines electromagnetic, mechanical and acoustic models to accurately anticipate vibration sources and noise levels generated by electric motors or generators.
Thanks to this multiphysics approach, VibraVolt is a powerful solution for reducing noise pollution right from the early stages of product development..

VibraGear is a software tool developed by Vibratec and the LTDS laboratory at Centrale de Lyon.
It enables detailed study of the internal sources of gear excitation – such as static transmission error or gear stiffness variations – and evaluates their vibratory response using imported finite element models.
With VibraGear, engineers have a powerful solution to design quieter, more reliable gearboxes with improved performance.
